  1. hello there Dr Rola, do you have any recommendations for treating knee & finger warts? I tried everything and nothing works!!!!!!!!!! Lazer, surgical removal, creams. They keep coming back. takk!

    • Dearest Shiela! The mainstreem treatment for warts is cryotherapy in which the doctor blasts liquid nitrogen onto the area to be treated. If you have already tried this, and it didn’t work there are some topical treatments you could try, such as over the counter salicylic acid preparations (of which you have to stick to for minimum 12 weeks before results can be seen),chemical treatments such as: formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde and podophyllin may also be tried. Imiquimod, and immune stimulator (mostly used on genital warts, but also effective on regular warts) might also be helpful in cases of recurring warts. These are the suggestions I came up with, but I strongly recommend you to make an appointment with a dermatologist to help you fight your war on the warts!
      All the best,
      Rolah

  2. Hey Rolah–good choice for the layout. It’s much simpler and easier on readers’ eyes. So I think the option you’re looking for is under Dashboard>Settings>Reading. On Front Page Displays, check ‘Your Latest Posts.’ That should do it.

    • Thank you! I have checked the “latest posts” button though, but it still comes one after the other.. hm. I might have to ask wordpress then. Thank you anyway!

  3. Hi Mrs ROK, I was wondering if there is any truth to the razzmatazz behind stretch mark removal/reducing creams. I have a couple around the lower stomach area and have tried Bio Oil (my mum’s recommendation) but no luck. Is there anything you recommend or is it just hopeless?

    Jane.

    P.S. The site ROK’s =)

    • Hi Jane, thank you for liking and following ROKderm. Unfortunately there is little evidence that topical products have any lasting effects against stretch marks, we do use products that may diminish the appearance somewhat, like retinoids, glycolics, peptides (all of which help plump out,the strech it self by behaving as fillers and increase formation of skin proteins, such as collagen) and procedures such as microdermabrasion. It is important to have realistic expectations when using these. There are other options as well designed to increase collagen production, such as dermarollers, but the most important in my opinion is laser treatments, in which non-abrasive lasers are directed against the mid dermal region of your skin to increase collagens and glycoaminoglycan production, and so will perhaps have a more profound and longer lasting result than the above mentioned. But even here expectations have to be limited as results vary, and nothing is a 100% effective.
I hope this helped a little, best of luck! and I’ll come back to this with a post of its own at some point.
      Keep on ROKing,
      Rolah

  4. Hi. Stumbled upon your blog while looking for a dermatologist in Stavanger.. i like your blog, but i was wondering do you do facial treatments? If not can you recommend a good dermatologist that can help with my annoying breakouts? I honestly don’t know what happened, but after having kids my face has changed (hormones i know) but i am too old for this to be happening. I have tried different tonic/zit zapping creams and so forth but that doesnt seem to work. A few years ago i was perscribed this pill (red/yellow) sorry i dont remember the name, but it was also to help with ambrosia or something (for dry spots around my nose) it also took control of the talc in my face and cleared up my skin. I havent used them in a few years but would really like to try som direct facial treatment.. :) any feedback would be great!! thank you

    • Hey/Hei Camilla!Unfortunaltely I’m still a medical student, and so I don’t have my own clinic to refer you to yet! I have however, worked with Dr. Thomas Ternowitz, head of dermatology in Stavanger, and I know he also works at Colloseum klinikken, and I know he is excellent at what he does, especially laser work. Have look and tell him I referred you, hopefully he still remembers me! ;)
      Good luck!
