While in Norway, I picked this little pamper product up from my local Vita store ( equivalent of the UK Boots). It was my first visit to the store after being back, and my shopping finger(s) were itching for something new and exciting to grab on to, and this colorful bag of face-mask screamed out to be picked up. The fact that the ingredient list consisted mostly of strawberry, (hence the name..) alovera, as well as vitamine E, and some other natural additives, only made the shopping fingers grab it that much faster. It also contains no: Chemical preservatives, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Phtalates, Sulfates, nor Triclosan, so my first impression at this point was as good as it could get. Another great thing about this bag, is that unlike most one time use face-masks, this one contains not one time, but 4 time uses! It has a genius little cork at the end, so will keep fresh without making a mess of its self while you store it on your bathroom shelf.
Before I move on to my opinion of this, I think its fare to focus on the main ingredient a bit first.
Strawberries are packed full of skin saving antioxidant and anti-aging vitamin C. The vitamin C in strawberries helps the body repair its tissues, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). In addition to protecting against free radical damage, it also helps to make collagen, an important protein in regards to looking young.
Strawberries also contain ellagic acid, an antioxidant that has recently been shown to have some health benefits. According to Science Daily, a 2009 study by Korean scientists showed that ellagic acid used topically helped to protect the skin against the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays, a main cause of aging skin. If you follow me on twitter, you might have read an article I recently tweeted concerning the UV protecting effects of this little wonder berry. Read more here.
Ellagic acid is also said to decrease hyper-pigmentation, and so brighten skin.
What I think: This is a great pamper product to bring with you on vacation. I love the packaging concept of reuse, even though it’s in a bag. I did however expect more of a “smack-there-you-go-glow” after using this, which sadly didn’t happen. I did however enjoy the heating effect, which was fun, and my skin was left soothed, and moisturized after. Due to the great list of ingredients and lack of harmful additives it’s a great little skin-treat that does a lot of good for the skin, although the results of it won’t be of the instant kind.
If you’re looking for a strawberry scented self heating natural face-mask to bring on a trip, this is the one for you! Nice after a day out, I can imagine.
